Candace Cameron Bure has talked about a deeply personal moment that saved her marriage, and it came from an unexpected place: her son, Lev.
In a recent episode of The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast, Candace shared how her 24-year-old son, Lev, preached a 45-minute sermon that played a powerful role in bringing her and her husband Valeri Bure closer. She said it was “one of the most special nights” of her life.
“Val and I went through a really, really rough season in our marriage in 2020, and that’s when the pandemic hit,” the actress said. “It was going south quickly, and we were like, ‘I don’t know, don’t think…we’re gonna make it through.’ But at one point, [our son] Lev preached, like, a 45-minute sermon on marriage to us. Just had his Bible open on the couch and just talked about it.”
She added, “And I’ll never forget, because he said, ‘You know, I know I haven’t been married. and I’m just a young kid. And so it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young who never experienced it before. But I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says.'”
Candace and Valeri got married in 1996. They met at a charity hockey game. Thanks to her Full House co-star Dave Coulier, who introduced the both. They have three children: Natasha (26), Lev (24), and Maksim, who is 23. Maksim and Natasha were also present during the conversation.
She shared the story during a podcast when the topic was about a time someone spoke God’s wisdom during a difficult situation. Candace didn’t specify how old her son Lev was when he spoke God’s truth. However, she said his message made a deep impression on both her and her husband. She said her son Lev “was such a calm voice that had so much wisdom behind it.”
@ccbpodcast Can you recall a season when someone spoke the truth of God into your situation? This week’s conversation drops TOMORROW! Don’t miss out.
“It was so in our face, but that was like the pivotal moment — it really changed for us after that talk. There was a lot more to it, but it’s a whole different scenario when your kids sit you down to have a talk and go, ‘Are you being as mature as you can be?’ I’m so grateful to Lev and Maks and Natasha,” she emphasized in the end. “They were so supportive of everything.”
Even though her Lev was single when he gave heartfelt advice to his parents, he later tied the knot himself. In January 2024, Candace shared on Instagram that her eldest son, Lev, had gotten married.
“I present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Lev Bure,” Candace wrote in that post’s caption. “Words cannot express the joy we have felt this weekend celebrating the marriage of our son and his bride Elliott. We gained a beautiful daughter and a wonderful family to do life with. I have an overwhelming sense of love, joy, peace and contentment thanks to God’s blessing of family and friendship. My heart is so full.”
