Sonic sure keeps a wide circle of friends (and enemies).

Ever since its inception in 1991, the Sonic the Hedgehog series has amassed quite an ensemble cast. You wouldn’t think games primarily about running forward really fast would necessitate so many different characters and… well, arguably, they don’t. But still, every one of Sonic’s friends and foes have at least one fan out there, I’m sure.

Since the Blue Blur himself is busy gearing up for the release of his movie on Valentine’s Day, I thought it’d be amusing to spare a thought to his many acquaintances. Sonic’s side characters run quite the gamut of species, personalities, and occasionally weird names. Whether I want to or not, I’ve memorized all of their names. Think you’ve done the same?
