Josh Brolin is talking openly about a part of his past that many people forget. He once shared a friendly connection with Donald Trump. This was long before Trump entered politics. Their friendship started around the time Brolin filmed Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps in 2010. Trump had a small appearance in the movie but it was later removed.

Brolin says he never feared Trump. He had known him in a different way. He said the man he met back then was not the version everyone sees today. This made their past friendship interesting for him to look back on.

He also remembered being impressed by Trump’s early business moves. One moment that stood out to him was Trump’s decision to build a luxury hotel in New York in the late seventies. The area was not great at the time. The project looked like a bold risk. For Brolin, it showed how Trump liked to push big ideas.

What Brolin said next caught a lot of attention. He shared that there is no greater genius than Trump in marketing. In his view, Trump knows exactly how to read people. He knows what they want and what they fear. And he knows how to turn that into power. Brolin believes this is why so many people connect with Trump. They see him as someone who speaks for them. Some even see him as their symbol.

But their bond did not last forever. Brolin eventually distanced himself from Trump. During the 2020 election, he made it clear that he could not support Trump’s campaign. He said his values no longer matched what Trump represented.

Even with these reflections, Brolin continues to stay busy with new films and projects. He looks back at his past with honesty while moving ahead with his work.
