Kate Hudson is finally reacting to the online criticism surrounding her new biopic Song Sung Blue, but she is doing it in her own calm and respectful way.

The movie, directed by Craig Brewer, is based on the real-life love story of Claire “Thunder” and the late Mike “Lightning” Sardina. The couple bonded through music and later formed a Neil Diamond tribute band called Lightning & Thunder. Hudson plays Claire, while Hugh Jackman takes on the role of Mike.

Recently, the film came under fire after Mike’s son, Michael Sardina Jr., spoke out in an interview. He claimed the movie does not tell the real story of his father and said it harms his legacy. He also expressed anger about not being mentioned during the film’s press tour and said he felt ignored by the people behind the project.

When Hudson was asked about these comments in a recent interview, she chose not to get into details. Instead, she gently stepped back from the situation. She explained that out of respect for the filmmakers, she did not feel like she was the right person to respond. Her answer was short, but clear.

Hudson did share something important, though. She said she spent time with Claire Sardina while preparing for the role and had meaningful conversations with her. According to Hudson, Claire is happy with the film, and that meant a lot to her as an actor telling someone else’s story.

Michael Sardina Jr. has continued to voice his concerns, saying he wants his father’s life shown truthfully and with respect. While emotions remain strong on both sides, Hudson’s response shows she is choosing grace over conflict and letting the work speak for itself.
