Ballroom Baby Alert: Maks and Peta reveal the gender of their second child!
The ballroom-dancing power couple, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd, have exciting news to share with their fans. They recently revealed the gender of their second child in a cute Instagram video featuring their firstborn, Shai.
The couple, who started dating in 2012 and got engaged in 2015, tied the knot six months after their first son, Shai, was born in 2017. But before Peta’s second pregnancy, the pair had a heartbreaking moment when they suffered a miscarriage in 2020. However, they persevered, and thankfully, their second attempt at expanding their family was successful.
In the Instagram video, Shai can be seen unfolding a piece of paper to announce the gender of his new sibling. It was revealed that the Chmerkovskiys are “creating their soccer team” as they’re expecting a baby boy. Peta shared her excitement in the caption, saying, “We’re so elated that Shai will get a baby brother and cannot wait to meet this little guy.”

Peta also revealed that the baby is “measuring quite large” and enjoys kicking her in the ribs all night. She shared that they were both overjoyed when they found out the baby was fully healthy, saying, “There is nothing quite like getting that phone call, with the nurses pause before telling you they’re all good results!!”
Despite the impending arrival of another boy, Peta hinted that they might still need to be done expanding their family. She revealed, “I guess this means we have to try for baby number 3 to get that girl.”
The couple received this wonderful news right before starting their second round of IVF, making it even more special. Peta shared that the news has brought “extraordinary bliss” to their family, and they have much to be grateful for.
