Netflix is making one of the biggest moves in entertainment history. The streaming giant announced it will buy Warner Bros., HBO, and HBO Max in a deal worth $82.7 billion. This means Netflix will now own some of the most famous movies and TV shows in the world.
The company said it plans to keep Warner Bros. running as it is and build on its strengths. Fans can expect to see big blockbuster movies in theaters and exciting new content on Netflix.
Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s co-CEO, said the deal is about giving viewers more of what they love. “Combining Warner Bros.’ classics like Casablanca and Citizen Kane with modern hits like Harry Potter and Friends, along with our originals like Stranger Things and Squid Game, will let us entertain people even more,” he said.
Greg Peters, the other co-CEO, added that the goal is to give members more choices and attract new fans to Netflix. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said joining Netflix will help share great stories with even more people around the world.
The deal is also expected to save money, with $2-3 billion in savings by the third year. Fans of DC films like The Batman and Joker, and HBO hits like Game of Thrones and The Last of Us, will have more ways to watch their favorite shows.
This acquisition is a huge moment for Hollywood and streaming. Netflix is positioning itself as the top platform for movies and TV. For viewers, this means more choices, more hits, and more entertainment than ever before.
