Scott will return all profits gained from the disastrous concert.
Over the weekend, the Astroworld Music Festival was held in Houston, Texas, where one of the headliner performances was rapper Travis Scott. During Scott’s show, a surge of around 50,000 attendees advanced toward the concert venue, and the sheer volume of people caused several concertgoers to be crushed and asphyxiated. By the time the show concluded, 8 attendees, aged between 14 and 27, had been killed, and hundreds more had either been physically injured or suffered cardiac arrest due to lack of oxygen.
Following the incident, Scott posted on his personal Twitter. “I’m absolutely devastated by what took place last night,” he wrote. “My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival.”
Scott continued, “Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life. I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support the families in need. Thank you Houston PD, Fire Department and NRG Park for their immediate response and support. Love you all.”
Travis Scott to Refund All Astroworld Attendees, Cancels Day N Vegas Festival Appearance (EXCLUSIVE) https://t.co/oKu5nwQFDG

Scott was scheduled for another show at the upcoming Day N Vegas Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada, but according to sources close to him, he is “too distraught to play.” In lieu of that, Scott announced today that he would be personally ensuring refunds for all attendees of his Astroworld show. The gesture may prove insufficient, however, as multiple lawsuits have already been filed against the festival and Scott personally.
One lawsuit, filed by injured attendee Manuel Souza, alleges that Scott “failed to properly plan and conduct the concert in a safe manner,” and that “they consciously ignored the extreme risks of harm to concertgoers, and, in some cases actively encouraged and fomented dangerous behaviors. Their gross negligence caused Plaintiff serious injuries.”
