Every tattoo comes with a story
Tattoos are synonymous with music, rockstar status, and success. Beyond that, they are a symbol of important things, places, and times in our lives. The art on a tattoo can tell a story and have a much deeper meaning than just the simple words or pictures on their own. Burna Boy broke down all of his tattoos to explain the meaning behind each one.
Damini Ebunoluwa, AKA Burna Boy, is a rapper and songwriter from Nigeria. With the huge smashing success of his four albums internationally, Burna Boy has received numerous awards as the Album of the Year, Best International Act, and Song of the year (just to name a few) from MTV Music Awards, BET Awards, and Nigeria Entertainment Awards. For all intents and purposes, he’s trending to the top and will undoubtedly continue to grow in worldwide popularity.
During an interview with GQ magazine, Burna Boy breaks down his numerous tattoos and their meanings. His first tattoo ever was the verse from PSALM 38 in the bible. He attributed the tattoo to a dark time in his life that the verse helped him to get through.
Another one of his favorite tattoos is the rock star tattoo on his hands. To him, the epitome of success and being a “rockstar” is the hand tattoo and so a tribute to his success and hard work.
