The pop star will be appearing in a series of in-game shows starting Friday.

Epic Games’ Fortnite has become so ubiquitous in modern pop culture, I’m not even sure I’d call it a “video game” anymore. I mean, it is a game, but it’s also become content platform in itself, delivering movies, music, stories, and an entire community. Fortnite basically prints money at this point, which is probably how they were able to secure the cooperation of a major pop name like Ariana Grande.

Epic announced over the weekend that starting this Friday, August 6, Fortnite will play host to the “Rift Tour,” a series of concerts held in Fortnite‘s various in-game venues. The headliner of these concerts will be Ariana Grande, appearing as a digital avatar with a specially-designed outfit.

“From August 6-8, take a musical journey into magical new realities where Fortnite and Ariana Grande collide. Dive into the Rift Tour,” Epic described the event in a press release.

There will be one show running on Friday, one on Saturday, and three on Sunday. In addition to the show, there will be a special event playlist where players can earn limited edition in-game items. The concerts are free to attend for all Fortnite players, though Epic recommends that anyone who wants to see a show should try to show up for the event playlist an hour ahead of time. Previous Fortnite events of this scale have put major strain on Epic’s servers, resulting in some last-minute attendees getting locked out of the festivities.

Speaking of previous Fortnite events, Grande isn’t the first major music sensation to appear in the game. Previous in-game concerts have been held by Marshmello and Deadmau5, while Travis Scott held an event where he appeared in-person in the form of a large hologram.
