Amid intense criticism and legal action, J. Allen Brack is departing the company.
Following the announcement of The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing’s lawsuit against video game publisher Activision Blizzard on the heels of a two-year investigation into sexual harassment accusations, more and more details have been gradually coming out. With the plug pulled, stories of systematic harassment against the women of the company have been coming out one after the other as the picture of Activision Blizzard’s inner workings becomes gradually darker. In the wake of this controversy, employees and users have been demanding culpability from management and corporate. It seems the one accepting this culpability will be the company’s own president.
Activision Blizzard Company President J. Allen Brack announced in a staff email that he will be departing the company to “pursue new opportunities.”
“To all members of the Blizzard Community,” Brack says in his announcement. “We want to let you know about an important leadership change at Blizzard Entertainment. Starting today, J. Allen Brack will be stepping down as the leader of the studio, and Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra will co-lead Blizzard moving forward.”

Pundits have pointed out that while Brack’s departure is a step in the right direction, Activision Blizzard will need to take a myriad of further steps to remedy their existing harassment problems, not to mention have any hope of repairing the severe damage to their reputation the lawsuit has caused.
