Breaking Bad star Raymond Cruz, popular for his role as Tuco Salamanca, has found himself in unexpected headlines. He was reportedly arrested in Los Angeles this week after a neighborhood dispute took an unusual turn.
The Police Department confirmed they got a call about a possible battery in the Silver Lake area on Monday morning around 10:40 a.m. When their officers arrived, Cruz was placed under a “private person’s arrest” and charged with a misdemeanor.
According to records, Cruz was taken in around 1:30 p.m. However, he was released on his own recognizance about two hours later. He’s scheduled to return to court on October 1.
So, what exactly happened? TMZ reported that Cruz was accused of spraying a woman’s daughter with a garden hose while washing his car. However, Raphael Berko (longtime agent of Cruz) says that the story has been twisted.
Berko told outlets the accusation is “outrageous and dangerous.” He explained that Cruz never sprayed anyone on purpose. He claims three women had parked very close to the car of Cruz when he was washing it, and despite his polite request to move the vehicle so it wouldn’t get wet, things escalated.
Berko also defended his client’s character. He said that Cruz has lived in the neighborhood for 20+ years without a single issue. He added that “he’s never even had a jaywalking ticket.”
Fans know that Cruz has intense screen presence, whether it’s as Tuco Salamanca or Detective Julio Sanchez in Major Crimes. However, off-screen, he’s a private man who avoids trouble.
