It’s been nearly 30 years since David Justice and Halle Berry went their separate ways. However, the former baseball star has now revealed why their marriage ended.
Justice, who played in Major League Baseball until his retirement in 2003, was married to the Oscar-winning actress. In a recent appearance on the ‘All the Smoke’ podcast, he spoke honestly about his relationship with Halle Berry.
“My knowledge and my understanding, my wisdom around relationships just wasn’t vast. So I’m looking at my mom, and I’m a Midwest guy, so, in my mind, I’m thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, [be] traditional, you know?” he said. “Then I’m thinking, ‘Okay, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?’ At that time, as a young guy, she don’t cook, don’t clean, don’t really seem motherly, and then we started having issues.”
David Justice and Halle Berry met in 1993. Berry proposed just five months after the first date. “I said okay, but I’m not sure my heart was fully in it,” Justice opened up. They went their separate ways in 1996 and officially divorced in 1997.
Justice has faced years of false rumors. There was also speculation that he was the ex who hurt Berry in the head. He denied all those claims in the past. Moreover, he thanked Berry publicly for her clarifying that Justice wasn’t the person who physically hit her.
Today, David Justice is married to Rebecca Villalobos. He shares three children with her. Berry has two children from previous relationships. According to the news, she has been dating musician Van Hunt since 2020.
