It’s a move players have been wanting since the game came out.

Life on an island isn’t complete unless you can take a dip in the bright blue ocean, and months after the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players will finally be able to do that.

With an update launching on July 3, the oceans of Animal Crossing are opening up. Players will be able to jump in the waters that surround their island, search for new sea life, and even meet new characters. The move is part of a summer update, which will also include new crafting options, mermaid-themed furniture to collect, and some changes to Gulliver, a bird who frequently washes ashore but will now be dressed as a pirate.

Players who take the plunge will be able to swim around and collect anemones, starfish, eels and other sea-faring creatures, all of which can be donated to Blathers to add on to the museum collection. The game is also adding Pascal, a chill sea otter players can hit up for new recipes or pearls of wisdom.

The last big update was back in April when players could garden and buy plants and shrubs from Leif, as well as buy art from Redd the mysterious art seller.

But swimming is not the only summer update to come. Nintendo announced that another updated is “planned to be released in early August, so stay tuned for further details to come.”
