Frank Ocean’s Coachella setback: Injury forces singer to drop out of Weekend 2!

The Coachella fans eagerly awaiting Frank Ocean’s headlining set at Weekend 2 of the festival will be disappointed to hear that the singer has dropped out due to an injury. According to reports, Ocean suffered two fractures and a sprain in his left leg on festival grounds leading up to Weekend 1, which led to last-minute production changes during his set.

Despite the injury, Ocean performed an impressive 20 songs during his set, including some completely reworked versions of his hit tracks. The 35-year-old star closed out his set with a soulful cover of Aaliyah’s 1994 track “At Your Best (You Are Love)” that left fans in awe.

Although Ocean was scheduled to take the stage for the headlining slot on Sunday of Weekend 2, Blink-182 will reportedly replace him. The pop-punk band, who reunited as their original trio during Weekend 1, will surely bring their high-energy performance to the Coachella stage.

Ocean’s reps shared that the singer was still intent on performing at Weekend 1 despite his injury, and the show was reworked out of necessity within 72 hours. However, on the doctor’s advice, Ocean cannot perform on Weekend 2.

This is not the first time that Ocean has had to drop out of Coachella. The singer-songwriter was originally scheduled to headline the festival in 2020 before the pandemic hit, and the festival had already locked in his performance for 2023 with an announcement in August 2021.

It’s always disappointing when a performer has to drop out of a highly-anticipated event, but fans can rest assured that Coachella will still be bringing the heat with Blink-182’s performance. Here’s wishing Frank Ocean a speedy recovery; hopefully, he’ll be able to make it back to Coachella in the future.
