Even if they don’t take quite the same forms we’re used to, it’s oddly relieving to see some of our usual major entertainment events still going on in the pandemic era. Kinda helps to make everything feel a little more normal. One of the biggest events of the year, the annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve show hosted, as always, by Ryan Seacrest, is still on track for Thursday night. While the show will be understandably smaller, they’re making up the difference with a very special guest.

Thursday’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will feature a special guest appearance by the President-Elect and future First Lady, Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden. According to the show’s producers, the political power couple-to-be will join Seacrest on stage to “share an inspiring message as we come together to close out 2020 and look ahead with hope to 2021.”

Aside from the Bidens, the event will be headlined by a musical performance by Jennifer Lopez, as well as additional performances by Cyndi Lauper, Billy Porter, Jimmie Allen, and Machine Gun Kelly. Additionally, celebs from Los Angeles will be joining the show remotely from their hometown for quick performances of their own. Some of these performers include Brandy, Miley Cyrus, Lewis Capaldi, and Ella Mai.

The show is set to air on Thursday, New Year’s Eve, on ABC at 8:00 PM Eastern time. The ball will drop at midnight as planned, and the show will continue until 2:00 AM. In the interest of pandemic safety, the event will be closed to the general public.
