Reality star’s legal drama unfolds with shocking courtroom verdict.
Karen Huger, star of The Real Housewives of Potomac, has been found guilty in her DUI trial, following a March car crash in Potomac, Maryland. The crash, which involved her Maserati, led to several traffic violations, including reckless driving and driving under the influence. Huger was not arrested at the scene but did face six traffic violations, including speeding and driving with a suspended registration.
On Wednesday, December 17, a verdict was reached, with Huger found guilty on nearly all charges except for reckless driving. A sentencing hearing is set for January 29, 2025, where Huger could face a fine of up to $1,000 and up to one year in jail, as per Maryland law.

Huger’s legal team expressed disappointment in the verdict and hinted at the possibility of an appeal. Attorney A. Scott Bolden stated, “We respect the jury’s decision but reserve the right to appeal and continue to seek justice for Mrs. Huger.”
The accident took place on March 19, 2024, when Huger crashed her Maserati after reportedly driving aggressively. She struck a median, a crosswalk sign, and a parking sign before stopping. In a statement, Huger explained that the crash occurred while she was “in a super emotional state” after a dinner where she discussed personal issues, including the loss of her mother.
At the scene, some witnesses claimed they smelled alcohol on Huger, and bodycam footage showed her slurring her speech and denying assistance from EMTs. Huger admitted to having “a couple of beers” before driving, although she denied being intoxicated.
