Lizzo’s Reaction to South Park
Lizzo has responded with humor and pride to her recent mention in a special episode of South Park. The episode, titled “The End of Obesity,” parodies the growing popularity of weight-loss drugs like Ozempic, and humorously introduces a fictional alternative product called Lizzo, which promotes body positivity and self-acceptance through the singer’s music and videos.
In the episode, a doctor tells character Sharon Marsh, “I’m going to write you a prescription for Lizzo. She’s a really good singer who talks about body positivity and just being happy with the way you look. I want you to listen to Lizzo five times a day and watch her videos just before bedtime. I’m afraid you’ll have to be on Lizzo for the rest of your life.”
Upon hearing about her mention in South Park, Lizzo took to Instagram to share her reaction. “My worst fear has been actualized. I’ve been referenced in a South Park episode. I’m so scared. I’m gonna blind-duet to it right now,” she said in a video.
Watching the parody with a mix of shock and delight, Lizzo exclaimed, “That’s crazy!” After seeing the fake commercial, she added, “I just feel like, damn, I’m really that bitch. I really showed the world how to love yourself and not give a f— to the point where these men in Colorado know who the f— I am and put it on their cartoon that’s been around for 25 years. I’m literally that bitch, and I showed you how to not give a f— and I’m gonna continue showing you how not to give a f—.”
Lizzo concluded her reaction by singing the jingle from the satirical ad, embracing the humor and acknowledgment from the long-running animated series.
