Margot Robbie Expresses Gratitude for Fan Support Ahead of Barbie’s Release

The highly anticipated film Barbie, starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie, is set to hit theaters on July 21, 2023. Even before its official release, the movie has generated significant buzz among audiences, whether it be due to the Vietnam ban controversy, the star-studded ensemble cast, or the captivating trailer. Interestingly, Barbie will also be pitted against Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which is scheduled for release on the same day.

Directed by Greta Gerwig, the official trailer of Barbie offers a glimpse into a vibrant, color-drenched world with an energetic plot. Prior to its release, the movie has already received exceptional first reactions from the audience.

The lively trailer showcases Barbie embarking on a soul-searching journey in the real world after experiencing strange events in the colorful Barbie Land, accompanied by her partner Ken. The movie boasts a star-studded cast ensemble, including Simu Liu, Alexandra Shipp, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Hari Nef, Scot Evans, Kate McKinnon, Sharon Rooney, Dua Lipa, Nicola Coughlan, Ana Cruz Kayne, Issa Rae, and more.

During the film’s premiere in Los Angeles on Sunday, Margot Robbie expressed her astonishment at the overwhelming support shown by fans for Barbie even before its worldwide release in cinemas next week. She told Reuters, “I knew how excited we felt about sharing this movie, and I had hoped that other people would feel that excitement too, but it’s kind of come back at us with so much enthusiasm and excitement. I’m even shocked, very shocked.”

Actress Issa Rae, who portrays President Barbie in the film, highlighted the significance of Barbie’s character evolution over the years. She stated, “Over the decades, Barbie’s been ahead of her time, but she’s also been behind the times, and she’s been seen as ditsy; she’s been seen as a tool to regress feminism. So many things have been placed upon Barbie, and I hope after this, people use Barbie to examine themselves and their place in the world.”

The movie’s trailer emphasizes that Barbie is for both those who love her and those who may have reservations. Ryan Gosling added, “This movie is like an amusement park. There’s a different ride for everyone, so I think everyone can have their own experience, and that’s the beauty of it.”
