Kelly Bensimon, star of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” has called off her wedding to financier Scott Litner just four days before the ceremony was set to take place. Bensimon made the difficult decision to prioritize her family during this challenging time.
“I have decided that my two daughters are my priority and I won’t be moving forward with this wedding,” Bensimon shared in a statement to Page Six, the first to report the news on June 25. The wedding was originally scheduled for June 29. Bensimon and Litner, who got engaged during the Fourth of July weekend last year, had planned to celebrate with two parties: an intimate gathering at Litner’s mother’s home in Boston, followed by a larger celebration in the Hamptons.
Reflecting on her initial encounter with Litner, Bensimon previously told PEOPLE, “When I first met him, I didn’t even say anything. I was speechless — which is not like me, I always have something to say. But he blew me away. He’s just a really special human.”
Bensimon, who was previously married to photographer Gilles Bensimon, shares two daughters, Sea and Teddy, with her ex-husband. Litner has been married twice before and has children of his own.
In her statement, Bensimon emphasized the importance of focusing on her family and taking time to regroup. “This has been an incredibly tough decision, but my family’s well-being is my top priority. I need to focus on my daughters and ensure we navigate through this difficult period together.”
Fans and friends have expressed their support for Bensimon during this time, acknowledging the strength it takes to make such a decision. As she takes this time to focus on her family, Bensimon remains grateful for the outpouring of love and understanding from those around her.
