Snoop Dogg Says LGBTQ+ Themes Are ‘Everywhere’ in Children’s Movies

Snoop Dogg is making headlines after sharing his thoughts on LGBTQ+ representation in children’s films. During his appearance on the ‘It’s Giving’ podcast, he said that he is ‘scared to go to the movies’ after a surprising moment during a family outing to watch 2022’s Lightyear.

Snoop explained that his grandson was closely watching the movie’s scene when a popular character, Alisha Hawthorne, appeared with her wife and baby. While watching the movie, his grandson shocked Snoop by asking him a question: “Papa Snoop, how she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!”

The rapper said that he couldn’t answer the question. “I didn’t come in for this. I just came to watch the movie,” he explained. “These are kids, and they’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answers.”

For those who don’t remember, Lightyear had sparked big controversy when it hit theaters. Disney almost cut a same-sex kiss between the popular character Alisha and her wife. However, after pushback from Pixar employees, the scene remained in the movie.

It was one of the first big same-sex moments in a Disney film. Reactions from the viewers were split right from the start.

Now, Snoop’s comments have incorporated more fuel into the conversation. Some people across social media agree with him, saying such topics should not be discussed or displayed to the minors. On the other hand, some people are criticizing him on his remarks on LGBTQ+.

Either way, Uncle Snoop is again right in the middle of a cultural debate.
