Urban Outfitters Announces Subscription Box Venture

The newest way to shop for your wardrobe

Clothing subscriptions are becoming the next big thing. While it’s been around for a few years now, Urban Outfitters is bringing in a new flavor to the traditional clothing subscriptions of the past.

Stitch Fix, Trunk Club, and ThreadBeast are popular clothing subscription companies that have become household names. For a monthly fee, these companies will style and send you ready-made outfits to your doorstep taking the guesswork and the hassle out of clothes shopping. Urban Outfitters has taken this idea a step further to offer a clothing rental option with style.

The idea is similar to that of Rent The Runway, which rentals formal wear and high-end fashion items. Where Urban Outfitters differs, is that the goal of their new program is to rent affordable streetwear and fashions to a wider range of consumers.

Enter Newly. Newly is the latest in clothing subscriptions available to the masses. For $88 a month, customers can rent up to six items and simply return them when you are finished. In a world of social media dominating fashion, Newly allows people the option of expanding their wardrobe. Not only is this better for the fashionista in us all but it’s better for the environment as well by creating less waste.
