Are You Heroic Enough to Name These ‘Dragon Quest’ Monsters?

Get ready for a whole lot of puns.

Last week saw the western Netflix release of Dragon Quest: Your Story, the very first film to represent the long-running Dragon Quest series of role-playing games. When you broach the topic of Square Enix-developed RPGs, people usually think of Final Fantasy first, but Dragon Quest has actually been running even longer than Final Fantasy, and is often considered one of the progenitors of the genre.

One of the most iconic things about Dragon Quest as a series is its bestiary. The monsters of Dragon Quest run a bizarre gamut ranging from fantasy mainstays like slimes and goblins to weird rarities like evil stumps and demons in sweatpants. Part of their iconic nature is their designs, all of which were created by the famous Akira Toriyama, whose work you’d know if you’ve ever watched an episode of Dragon Ball Z.

If you fancy yourself a fantasy buff, you might be able to name these ten Dragon Quest monsters. I just hope you don’t have an aversion to puns.
