Pop Star Ariana Grande Announces Split from Husband Dalton Gomez

Ariana Grande, 30, and real estate agent Dalton Gomez, 28, have taken the formal step to end their marriage, according to reports confirmed by PEOPLE.

News of their separation had surfaced in July, but the official divorce filings were submitted two months later. The decision to file at this time was a deliberate one, as Grande and Gomez wished to navigate the details of their agreement privately. Sources close to the couple describe their approach to the uncoupling as “kind and patient,” highlighting their mutual respect for one another throughout this process. Both Grande and Gomez have since moved forward.

Despite the separation, Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez’s parting remains amicable. An insider previously explained that the challenges of a long-distance relationship, stemming from Grande’s involvement in the film “Wicked” in London, played a role in their decision to separate. Nonetheless, Grande has nothing but praise for Gomez, stating that he was her biggest supporter during their marriage.

The couple began their relationship in January 2020 and went public with their romance when they appeared together in Grande’s music video for “Stuck with U” alongside Justin Bieber in May of that year. Their engagement was announced in December 2020, leading to a quiet wedding ceremony on May 15, 2021.

Maintaining a relatively low profile, the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary in May 2023, with Grande expressing her affection for Gomez on social media.

Following the news of their separation, it was revealed that Ariana Grande is now dating her “Wicked” co-star and Broadway veteran Ethan Slater. Slater, who was previously married to high school classmate Lilly Jay and welcomed a child in January, filed for divorce from Jay in July.

Both Grande and Slater have emphasized that their romantic involvement began after their respective separations were underway. A close family friend clarified this point, stating that Ariana and Ethan started seeing each other only after both parties had separated from their previous partners.

Grande officially filed for divorce on Monday in Los Angeles, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the grounds for dissolution. Laura Wasser, a renowned family law attorney, is representing Grande in the divorce proceedings.

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez’s 2021 wedding was an intimate affair, attended by fewer than 20 people, and held at their home in Montecito. The couple had previously shared moments from their special day on social media, radiating joy and love.

Despite the separation, Ariana Grande’s professional journey continues with her involvement in the cinematic adaptation of “Wicked” in London alongside a stellar cast, prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike in July.
