Despite stay at home orders and curfews, many restaurants are continuing to serve customers with takeout and delivery options.

To show their appreciation for members of their communities, many restaurants are giving out free food to medical professionals and other essential workers.

Chipotle is the latest restaurant to come forward, offering to give away 100,000 free burritos to healthcare workers in honor of National Burrito Day on April 2. Medical workers just need to register their medical unit via a form on Chipotle’s website, and they will receive a free burrito box delivered by DoorDash next week during World Health Worker Week.

Each burrito box comes with either 25 or 50 burritos. Chipotle is also extending its free delivery orders over $10 made on its app or website through April 30.

Chief Marketing Officer of Chipotle Chris Brandt said in a press release that the company wants to express their “extreme gratitude by fueling the frontline workers at healthcare facilities across the country with real food.”

For everyone else who orders from the chain on National Burrito day (aka today), a free serving of queso blanco will be added to their entrée.

Other food chains such as Krispy Kreme and Starbucks are giving free food and beverages to first responders as they work tirelessly to address the COVID-19 outbreak.
