The waffle-y, chocolatey classic is going to that big ice cream truck in the sky.
Since the 1980s, one of the all-time classics of ice cream novelties has been Klondike’s Choco Taco. If you’ve somehow never had one, first of all I am sincerely sorry, and secondly, it’s vanilla ice cream with a chocolate swirl encased within a crispy taco-shaped waffle cone and covered in a peanut-encrusted chocolate shell. The tasty treat has been a longtime staple of both ice cream trucks and the cool kid’s parents’ trips to the supermarket.
Sadly, it seems this treat of treats’ tenure is finally coming to a close. Klondike announced last night that, as of this month, the Choco Taco has officially been discontinued. According to Klondike representatives, Klondike has experienced a surge in demand for their products over the last couple of years, such as their classic Klondike Bars, forcing them to trim back some of their offerings to keep their books balanced.

“Over the past 2 years, we have experienced an unprecedented spike in demand across our portfolio and have had to make very tough decisions to ensure availability of our full portfolio nationwide,” a Klondike representative told CNN, adding “we know this may be very disappointing.”
