The ice cream treat could return in a few years’ time.

Last week, ice cream maker Klondike announced that one of their fan-favorite ice cream novelties, the Choco Taco, would be officially discontinued after 40 years. This decision was made due to difficulties Klondike has had providing its entire catalog of products to sellers and consumers around the world; in order to cut costs and focus on their more popular items, the Choco Taco had to go.

The announcement prompted a wave of mourning on social media, with users on Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok fondly reminiscing about the Choco Taco and expressing sadness over its discontinuation. However, as a result of the massive public response, Klondike has made an announcement to give us a little hope. While the discontinuation of the Choco Taco is still going through, it may not be permanent.

“We know this is disappointing,” said Klondike in a tweet. “We’ve heard our fans, and we’re hoping to bring this favorite treat back to ice cream trucks in the coming years!”

“We knew the Choco Taco was a fan favorite, and the decision to discontinue the product was a tough one to make,” a Klondike spokesperson told TODAY Food. “The overwhelming support for Choco Taco has certainly made us reconsider our long-term plans. The team is working on a plan to bring it back, though it may take some time. There are currently no definite timelines for bringing the Choco Taco back.”
