Ralphie’s all grown up.
1983’s A Christmas Story is one of the most iconic holiday films of all time, following young Ralphie Parker as he endures various wacky circumstances in the days leading up to Christmas, for which he hopes to receive a Red Rider BB gun (and not shoot his eye out). The film spawned two direct-to-video sequels that we don’t talk about, and is still fondly regarded for its many classic moments today.
To revive a bit of that classic holiday spirit, HBO Max released a teaser today for A Christmas Story Christmas, a new movie starring Ralphie’s original actor, Peter Billingsley, all grown up and with a family of his own. Ralphie returns to his childhood home on Cleveland Street, eager to provide the best Christmas he can for his family, all while reconnecting with his childhood friends and coming to terms with his father’s passing. The trailer features numerous allusions to the original film, including the “Major Award” leg lamp and the radio that Ralphie listened for Little Orphan Annie’s secret on.

The film will feature a combination of returning actors and new faces. Ian Petrella, Zack Ward, Scott Schwartz and R.D. Robb are returning from the first film, while new actors include Erinn Hayes, River Drosche, Julianna Layne and Julie Hagerty. The film is being directed by Clay Kaytis, while Billingsley, Vince Vaughn, and Nick Schenk are producing. Schenk also wrote the script.
A Christmas Story Christmas will be streaming exclusively on HBO Max on November 17.
