James Gunn may be busy building the DC Universe. However, when he’s off the clock, he loves reality TV just like the rest of us.
The Superman director recently appeared on The Viall Files podcast (hosted by former Bachelor star Nick Viall), and he shared controversial opinions on the latest season of ‘Love Island USA.’
First of all, he wasn’t really into Nicolandria, the popular couple of Nic Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen. Even though the couple was a fan favorite, Gunn didn’t see the spark. He admitted, “I felt zero chemistry.”
He was of the view that Taylor Williams and Clarke Carraway had “the most real” connection on the show. Gunn explained that he often looks at the things differently from viewers and contestants of Love Island USA because he was looking at the show from a man’s perspective.
And then there is Huda Mustafa. She stirred up a lot of drama this season, but James Gunn wasn’t impressed.
“I feel sorry for that girl,” he said. “But how did she last so long?”
Mustafa’s journey included a fiery pairing with Jeremiah Brown, and later she had a last-minute match with Chris Seeley. The two even reached the finale, but they broke up right after. This has never happened before in the history of Love Island USA.
Looking back, Gunn said that Season 7 also didn’t live up to the hype. He even called this season a “letdown.” He added that Season 6 has been one of the best in the whole franchise.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see more drama because the reunion special is set for August 25.
