Jamie Lee Curtis is a Hollywood legend. However, when it comes to fan moments, she behaves like the rest of us. The actress had everyone laughing during her appearance on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert when she disclosed the only time she ever asked a celebrity for an autograph.

At first, Curtis couldn’t even get the words out. Colbert asked if she’d ever asked for an autograph, and she began laughing so hard that she had to rest her head on the desk. When she finally answered Colbert’s question, the audience cracked up too.

Her reveal was Jaleel White, who is popular as Steve Urkel from the hit ’90s sitcom Family Matters. Curtis told the entire story with a smile. She wasn’t collecting autographs for herself. She was doing it for her kids.

“I was with my child,” she said, “and they wanted the autograph.” She got the autograph, and to this day, that signature is still in her daughter’s scrapbook.

Colbert didn’t stop teasing her with Urkel’s famous line, “Did you do that?” Curtis laughed hard and proudly replied, “I’m a nice mom.”

Beyond funny moments like this, people have always admired Curtis for her cordiality and wisdom. Her younger co-stars often talk about the advice she gives on set. She reminds them that what really matters in life isn’t what happens to you in life, but how you respond to that. Your reaction shapes your future.
