The Hamnet actress walked on stage to accept her award and decided to thank someone most winners usually forget. A crew member. Not for lighting or camera work, but for cooking. Buckley shared how the film’s key grip, Tomasz Sternicki, would quietly disappear during long shoot days. One day, she found out why.
He was at the back of his truck, cutting potatoes, onions, and meat. Sternicki had brought a huge cast-iron pot from Poland and started making homemade soup for the crew. Soon, that soup began showing up on set. According to Buckley, it was “delicious” and quickly became something everyone looked forward to.
She laughed as she thanked him on stage, even joking about the effort it took to bring that massive pot all the way to set. The crowd loved it. It felt real, sweet, and very Jessie Buckley.
