Production on Rick and Morty will continue without Roiland.
Earlier this month, news broke that writer, actor, and co-creator of the animated series Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland, had been charged with felony domestic abuse in Orange County. Specifically, Roiland was charged with domestic battery with corporal injury and one count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud or deceit during a relationship with an anonymous woman back in 2020. Roiland pled not guilty to these charges, paying a $50,000 bond to avoid imprisonment. In the event these charges are found to be genuine, Roiland could face fines and jail time.
This week, following the development of the story, Adult Swim, the network that broadcasts Rick and Morty, announced that they have officially cut ties with Roiland. “Adult Swim has ended its association with Justin Roiland,” the network posted on the official Rick and Morty Twitter page. “Rick and Morty will continue. The talented and dedicated crew are hard at work on Season 7.”

Additionally, Justin Roiland’s personal video game company Squanch Games, which last month published the game High on Life, announced that Roiland had handed in his resignation last week. No information has been given at the time of writing on Roiland’s other major ongoing show, Hulu’s Solar Opposites.
