Katie Holmes is set to visit her daughter Suri Cruise at Carnegie Mellon University for Family Weekend on September 27 and 28. According to a source, Holmes will be flying to Pittsburgh to spend time with Suri, who recently started her college journey.

Tom Cruise, who is funding Suri’s education as part of their 2012 divorce settlement, will not be joining them. The divorce agreement stipulates that Cruise covers all of Suri’s educational expenses, which includes Carnegie Mellon University’s annual tuition of $65,000.

“Katie is excited to visit her daughter at school and be a part of this milestone in her life,” a source told DailyMail.com. “She enjoyed her time at Columbia University and is thrilled that Suri is experiencing college life.”

Suri, who moved into her dorm a week ago with the help of her mother, will have a three-day break for Labor Day before classes start on August 26.

While Tom Cruise continues to fulfill his financial obligations for Suri’s education, he and Suri have been estranged. The divorce documents outlined that Cruise would cover Suri’s expenses, including tuition and other costs, but it is understood that he is no longer providing child support as Suri has turned 18.

Despite the estrangement, Cruise is known for upholding his commitments. “Tom has always paid for Suri’s schooling and will continue to do so,” a friend of Cruise’s shared. “He has never hesitated in fulfilling his responsibilities and remains committed to his daughter’s well-being.”

Katie Holmes, meanwhile, is looking forward to being present for Family Weekend and supporting her daughter during this significant phase of her life.
