The Difficult Life of Armie Hammer After the 2021 Scandal

Armie Hammer, the actor whose Hollywood career crumbled after allegations of cannibalism and sexual misconduct, has revealed he’s selling his truck because he “can’t afford gas anymore.” Hammer took to Instagram on Tuesday, just a day before his 38th birthday, to share an update on his life since his career was derailed by scandal.

In a video filmed in a CarMax parking lot, Hammer explained he has been back in Los Angeles for a few weeks and is selling his truck to start fresh. “This is my truck,” he said, describing the vehicle he bought in 2017 as a Christmas gift for himself. “I have loved this truck intensely,” Hammer continued, mentioning he had taken it on numerous road trips and adventures over the years. But now, he says he can’t afford to keep it due to the high cost of gas, which has cost him $400 to $500 since he returned to LA.

The actor announced that he has already purchased a new, smaller hybrid car. “I’ve got a new car. It’s tiny. It’s a hybrid,” he shared, adding that he expects to spend only about $10 on gas each month with the new vehicle. Hammer expressed hope for a fresh start as he celebrates his 38th birthday with a new car, a new apartment, and a new life in Los Angeles.

Hammer thanked his truck for its service, reminiscing about all the memories it held. “You have gotten me a long way, and I appreciate it all. I hope you take as good of care of the next person,” he said.

This update comes a month after Hammer spoke on the Painful Lessons podcast about the allegations that ended his Hollywood career. Hammer expressed gratitude for the experience of being “canceled,” saying it led to valuable life lessons and a new perspective. He stated, “I’m actually now at a place where I’m really grateful for it because where I was in my life before all of that stuff happened to me, I didn’t feel good… I never felt satisfied.”

Though he previously denied any criminal wrongdoing, Hammer acknowledged that the scandals led to profound personal growth and a chance for new beginnings.
