In a garden-themed gala where floral attire reigned supreme, Challengers star Mike Faist dared to be different by embracing a more unconventional interpretation of the theme. Faist, known for his recent role as an unofficial churro spokesman, stunned onlookers at the 2024 Met Gala with a bedazzled turnip adorning his lapel.
The event’s dress code, “The Garden of Time,” inspired attendees to showcase their sartorial creativity, tying into the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” While many opted for floral ensembles, Faist stood out by channeling vegetable garden chic with his eye-catching accessory.
Faist’s ensemble, otherwise understated, featured a black Loewe tuxedo jacket paired with a white shirt, off-white pants, and classic black shoes. The bedazzled turnip added a whimsical touch to his look, perfectly complementing the gala’s theme while making a bold fashion statement.
Joined by his Challengers co-stars Zendaya and Josh O’Connor, Faist stayed true to the spirit of the film by keeping his Met Gala look within the Challengers family. Jonathan Anderson, Loewe’s creative director and the costume designer for the movie, ensured continuity between Faist’s on-screen and red-carpet personas.
