Natalie Portman To Wield The Hammer Of Thor In Next Installment

The next “Thor” movie will feature some big changes

It’s official! We are finally getting a female Thor! It was officially announced at Comic-Con International in San Diego that Natalie Portman has officially joined the league of Marvel Cinematic Universe superheroes. The actress will make her comeback to the MCU’s “Thor” franchise, but this time she’ll be returning as Lady Thor, and boy is she ready to bring the thunder!

The fourth installment of the franchise is titled “Thor: Love and Thunder,” and will co-star Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. The movie will be directed by Taika Waititi and released in November 2021.

Portman previously played Thor’s love interest, astrophysicist Jane Foster in 2011’s “Thor” and 2013’s “Thor: The Dark World,” but she did not appear in 2017’s “Thor: Ragnarok.”

In the Marvel comics, Foster is revealed to be deemed worthy to wield Thor’s hammer Mjolnir when he is no longer able. During this time, she adopts the name Thor, the Goddess of Thunder, and joins the Avengers. Her time as Thor comes to an end when she sacrifices her life to defeat a dangerous foe, reverting of the mantle Thor to its original bearer.

It is not clear what fate Portman will have once she takes up the hammer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but either way, fans are head over heels excited to see that another female superhero will be taking the spotlight as well as see Lady Thor come to life on the big screen.
