Reba McEntire is remembering her late former stepson, Brandon Blackstock, with heartfelt words in a public tribute.
The country music icon shared the message on Tuesday, which revealed that Brandon passed away on August 7 after a long battle with skin cancer.
Reba McEntire wrote, “Last week, my stepson and oldest son, Brandon Blackstock, went home to be with God. His struggle is over, and he is in eternal peace in God’s presence. There is no one else like him, and I’m thankful for the time we had together. His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family.”
She further wrote, “Rest in peace cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again.”

Brandon, Kelly Clarkson’s husband and former manager, leaves behind two children (daughter River Rose, 11, and his son Remy Alexander, 9).
Reba was married to the father of Brandon, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015. During that time, she was a stepmother to Brandon and the two daughters of Narvel.
Reba McEntire’s post drew an outpouring of love and support from friends and fans.
Wynonna Judd wrote, “Love you, friend.” John Legend, who worked alongside Reba on The Voice, left praying emojis. Kristin Chenoweth also commented, “Sending love to you and the family.”
Reba had previously shared her grief after her son Shelby Blackstock uploaded a post that Brandon was “funny, bright, and full of life.”
Brandon’s family shared in a statement that he “bravely battled cancer for more than three years” and left this world peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. They thanked everyone for their prayers, thoughts, and respect for their privacy during this difficult time.
