The actions of the Tinder Swindler are catching up to him.

The actions of Simon Leviev, real name Shimon Hayut and also known as the “Tinder Swindler,” have become public knowledge since the release of the Netflix documentary of the same name. Hayut scammed over $10 million out of numerous women using the dating service Tinder by weaving elaborate sob stories and convincing them to loan him money, then disappearing. His reason for changing his name was to utilize the credibility of the family of Israeli Russian diamond tycoon Lev Leviev. Hayut is finally being sued for his criminal actions, though surprisingly, the lawsuit isn’t coming from his victims, but from the family whose name he impersonated.

The Leviev family is suing Hayut on the grounds of “making false representations as being the son of Lev Leviev and receiving numerous benefits (including material ones),” according to a lawsuit filed in Tel Aviv. It goes on to accuse Hayut of “cunningly using false words, claiming to be a member of the Leviev Family, and that his family will pay and bear the costs of his benefits.”

“This legal action is only the beginning of a number of lawsuits that my firm is currently working on,” the Leviev family’s attorney Guy Ophir said in a statement. “In the next phase we will file a monetary suit against Hayut and any other affiliate that will work with him, including some websites that have Joint ventures with Hayut and/or have offered to buy cameos from him. Anyone that will try to capitalize from this scheme will be sued.”
