Usher has announced the postponement of the opening night of his highly anticipated Past Present Future tour, just hours before he was set to perform at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. The “OMG” singer revealed his decision in a statement shared across social media platforms, citing the need to “rest and heal” as the reason for the delay.

In his announcement, Usher expressed his dedication to delivering top-notch performances throughout his career. “For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans,” Usher wrote on X and Instagram. “I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second to rest and heal.”

The singer reassured fans that despite the delay, they would still experience “a bit of the past, some of the present and a unique look into the future” when the rescheduled show takes place. Usher emphasized his commitment to providing a full and engaging performance, stating, “You’re still going to get 100% of me.”

Representatives for Usher did not immediately respond to requests for further comment from Entertainment Weekly. The singer’s team will announce the new date for the rescheduled opening night in due course.

Usher’s decision comes shortly after his spectacular Super Bowl Halftime show in February and the release of his latest album, Coming Home. Known for his physically demanding performances, including elaborate choreography, Usher’s shows are highly anticipated events.

In addition to the postponed opening night, Usher was also scheduled to perform at the State Farm Arena on August 16 and 17. There has been no update on whether these performances will continue as planned.

The Past Present Future tour will continue across North America through November 30, 2024, before heading internationally. The international leg will kick off on March 29, 2025, at London’s O2 Arena.

2024 has been a milestone year for Usher, marked by his 100-show Las Vegas residency, a Super Bowl performance, the release of a new album, his marriage to Jennifer Goicoechea, a Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards, and celebrations of the 20th anniversary of his seminal album, Confessions.
