Disney Star’s Amazing Career Transformation: Takes on New Venture as CEO of Northwood Space

Bridgit Mendler, the multi-talented artist known for her roles on Disney Channel and her musical career, has recently ventured into the world of technology and space exploration as she announces her role as CEO of Northwood Space.

The startup, Northwood Space, has set an ambitious goal of creating a “data highway between Earth and space.” Bridgit Mendler, who has been actively involved in the project since its inception, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We are designing shared ground infrastructure from first principles to expand access to space. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but that’s the fun part.”

Mendler revealed that the inspiration for the company came during the COVID-19 pandemic when she and her family were in New Hampshire. “While everybody else was making their sourdough starters, we were building antennas out of random crap we could find at Home Depot … and receiving data from [National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration] satellites,” Mendler told CNBC.

The project is already making strides, having received $6.3 million in funding. It is a joint venture with Mendler’s husband, who will serve as the startup’s chief technology officer.

Bridgit Mendler has made a name for herself, not just in the entertainment industry but also in the academic world. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in anthropology in 2016 and then went on to earn a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2020. Currently, she is working towards a Doctor of Philosophy – PhD at MIT and a Doctor of Law – JD at Harvard Law School.

Apart from her professional accomplishments, Mendler has also had personal milestones. In October 2019, she married her husband, Griffin Cleverly. In February 2024, she announced that she became a mother, adopting a 4-year-old boy.
