Sunny Hostin, co-host of The View, said that she ‘almost died’ while filming the show.
On Friday, June 20, Sunny Hostin explained in a talk show that she had a severe allergic reaction to Greek food that Debbie Matenopoulos brought to the set. Debbie, who was a co-host on The View, brought recipes from her new cookbook ‘GREEK.ish’. The food had walnuts, and Sunny Hostin has a serious allergy to them.
“She has this wonderful food” Hostin said. “I have a terrible allergy to walnuts. As I’m eating the food, Alyssa asks, ‘Are those walnuts in here?’ And she says ‘Yes.’ So I panic immediately.”
Hostin also mentioned that she wrote a message to Alyssa Farah Griffin to inform her about the serious allergy. “She responds, ‘Oh, no!'” Hostin shared. “And I’m looking at [executive producer] Brian [Teta] and he’s like, ‘Is everything OK?’ No, it’s not.”
It was fortunate that the onsite medical team was prepared, and they quickly intervened in time to save the day.
“What was great was, our Disney nurses are like superheroes,” Hostin expressed. “Nurse Jan came in with an EpiPen. She was testing me. I had Benadryl. I was scared.”
In response, Griffin said that she couldn’t read the “death note”.
“She was great in the moment,” Hostin added. “I panicked.”
Griffin said that every team member was glad that their costar was fine after the horrible incident.
Haines said she didn’t know Sunny Hostin was allergic to an ingredient in the salad that Matenopoulos had brought. Haines said that she didn’t have any idea that Sunny Hostin was allergic to this ingredient in a salad.
