Vin Diesel has just dropped a major update about the final Fast & Furious film. This one will surely hit you in the feels.
On Saturday at FuelFest in Pomona, Calif., the 57-year-old actor surprised fans with an unexpected announcement about the final Fast and Furious movie. Not only did he reveal the release date of the movie, but he also confirmed the return of the fan-favorite character.
“The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast & Furious [in] April 2027,'” Diesel said in front of a cheering crowd. “I said, ‘Under three conditions.'”
He then gave his conditions: “First, is to bring the franchise back to L.A.! The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing,” he said. “The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner.”
Vin Diesel is pointing to the character Brian O’Conner, who was previously played by the late Paul Walker. Paul Walker starred in six Fast & Furious movies before he passed away in a car accident in November 2013 at the age of 40. The unforgettable character, Brian, was written out in Fast and Furious 7 using CGI technology and the support of Paul Walker’s brothers, who played as stand-ins to complete his remaining scenes.

Diesel didn’t reveal exactly how the character of Brian will return, but the use of CGI technology seems to be a possible way to resurrect the character. In the past, many other films have also used CGI to bring the characters of later actors into the story.
The Fast & Furious series is now racing toward its 11th movie. This is being called the last entry in the franchise. This installment comes after Fast X, where Toretto and his team battled Dante Reyes, played by Jason Momoa. It is a character from their past who was seeking revenge.
Director Louis Leterrier has already promised, “You’re going to cry. Part 2 is going to be a sad one.” He further added, “In my mind, they’re modern saints. At the end, Dante says, ‘There’s two ways a person becomes a saint: Either they pull off a miracle, or they sacrifice themselves for the greater good.’ So yes, you’re going to cry. There are some tears in your future, let me tell you.”
