Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte is the next of Coke’s abstract flavors.

Recently, Coke introduced Coca-Cola Starlight, a new flavor of their signature soda that was intended to evoke the taste of space (whatever space is supposed to taste like). This is part of a new strategy to introduce novelty flavors with more abstract concepts, intended to make people curious enough to try them.

“We are seeing lots of discussion and speculation about its mysterious space flavor,” Oana Vlad, senior director of strategy at Coca-Cola, explained to CNN. “Our fans are intrigued — they love the playful novelty. The abstract nature of the flavor descriptions offers an opportunity for debate and discussion.”

Today, Coke announced the next one of these flavors, and “abstract” is an understatement. The newest flavor of Coca-Cola is Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte, which is apparently intended to taste like the pixels that make up a computer screen. “Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte makes the intangible taste of the pixel tangible,” Vlad said. “The Coca-Cola taste you know and love with bright elements upfront and refreshing with the finish.”

Coke Byte was originally a virtual product released in the online game Fortnite last month. The drink will be available for purchase in May, though it’ll only be available in Zero Sugar 2-packs.
