Jason Momoa is officially back in Dune mode.

The Aquaman star surprised fans by sharing a video on his Instagram account where he shaved off his beard after over six years. It’s all in preparation for his return in Dune 3. Fans of Momoa were shocked to see his new face look, but no one was more upset than the actor himself.

“Goddammit, I hate it!” he admitted in his social media post. “It’s been about six years—maybe more—since I did Dune.”

Momoa jokingly dedicated the shave to the Oscar-nominated creative director Denis Villeneuve by saying, “Only for you, Denis!”

Momoa played the role of the warrior Duncan Idaho in the 2021 Dune film. In this film, he starred alongside an A-list cast, including Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, and Javier Bardem. Although his character died in the first movie, Jason Momoa revealed that he is preparing himself for Dune 3.

During an appearance on Today, Momoa laughed and said, “If you didn’t read the books, it’s not my fault,” since the movies follow the novels of Frank Herbert.

In the same Instagram post, Momoa talked about his eco-friendly water company, Mananalu, which he established in 2019 to “rid the world of single-use plastic bottles” to preserve nature. As a proud Hawaiian, he is deeply passionate about protecting the oceans.

Some fans may recall when Jason Momoa pointed out Chris Pratt in 2019 for using a plastic water bottle in an ad. The moment grabbed attention online. However, both stars handled the situation with humor and respect.

As filming for Dune 3 accelerates, one thing is sure: Momoa is all in, beard or not.
