It turns out, there’s an actual reason behind the signature facial hair of Pedro Pascal. It all stems from his experience playing the villainous Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman 1984.
During a recent video series of LADbible’s Agree to Disagree, Pascal said, “”I was so appalled by the way I look in Wonder Woman 1984. I loved the movie, but I was so appalled by the way that I looked that I never have gone back — unless it were completely necessary.”
It’s a surprising confession from a person who has played all of their high-profile roles (from Game of Thrones to The Last of Us) with the utmost confidence.
Now, in the upcoming movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Pascal plays Reed Richards, who has got popularity as Mr. Fantastic.
“If they asked me to be clean-shaven for Fantastic Four and insisted, then I would’ve done it,” added Pascal. Pascal views this not as merely personal reference, but also as a part of a collaborative creative process. He said, “It was a very collaborative creation for all of our looks in the movie”.
He believes that keeping facial hair brings authenticity and confidence in front of the camera.
Pedro Pascal stars alongside Joseph Quinn, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which will hit theaters on Thursday, July 24.
