The Korean web comic is getting the live-action treatment.

News and talk about the popular webtoon True Beauty (“여신강림”) being adapted into a drama have been floating around since last year, but it was not until this year that the author revealed that the drama is planned to air at the end of the year.

The story by Yaongyi is one of the most popular webtoons in and outside Korea. It tells the story of a shy, female comic book fan who masters the art of makeup, and after posting a photo, becomes her school’s prettiest girl overnight. But the beauty harbors a secret— without makeup, she thinks she is ugly, so she does everything to maintain her elite status and keep her “real self” a secret. However, she bumps into one of the school’s cutest guys in a comic book store when she doesn’t have makeup on, and a love story begins with the only man who knows what she truly looks like without makeup on.

The drama will be produced by the production company BonFactory, (some famous titles include Encounter, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?) and by Studio N (Pegasus Market, Hell Is Other People).

On June 23, it was reported that Moon Ga Young is in talks to play the female lead in the drama adaption. Her agency, KeyEast Entertainment, said that she “received an offer to star in the new tvN drama True Beauty and is positively considering the offer.”

Also, in consideration for the lead male role of Lee Su Ho is ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo.
