“He was one of the greatest alligator hunters there is,” wrote Ashley “Deadeye” Jones, a fellow cast member of Swamp People. Junior Edwards, the fearless outdoorsman and the star of the TV show Swamp People, has passed away.
His grandson, “Lil” Willie Edwards, shared news in an emotional Facebook post on Saturday. He wrote, “Rest easy, Pawpaw. I know you’re probably running your hoop nets or doing something crazy inside those pearly gates. You will be extremely missed… Until we meet again.”
The official reason for death or any further information hasn’t been disclosed by any of the family members. However, earlier in this July, Willie had mentioned that his grandfather had serious health problems. He had written in the post, “Y’all keep him in y’all’s thoughts and prayers, please… We need a miracle.”
There is no official statement so far by the History Channel on the death of Junior Edwards. However, the love from fans and his fellow actors says everything.

Ashley “Deadeye,” his fellow cast member, posted a photo on Instagram with Junior and wrote, “The world lost a legend. He was a real hard-core outdoorsman… I watched this man bring in MONSTER gators… Glad we took a second for a pic!”
Junior Edwards’ other castmate, Ronnie Adams, also wrote on social media, “Praying for the Edwards in this time of need. Rest in peace, Junior!”
Junior Edwards had been an important part of Swamp People since its first season in 2010. The viewers have often seen him hunting alongside his son and grandson. Junior Edwards stayed with the show for six seasons and then shocked the fans by returning in Season 12.
