Production on Season 2 has already wrapped!

It has been confirmed that Rosario Dawson will make an appearance on the second season of The Mandalorian as the fan-favorite character Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi apprentice of Anakin Skywalker’s from the animated TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels.

Both shows were co-created by Dave Filoni, who is also a director, writer and EP on The Mandalorian. Filoni and George Lucas came up with the character of Ahsoka, who is from the alien species Togruta. Although viewers did not take too kindly to Skywalker’s young Padawan at first, Ahsoka later became a fan favorite as Clone Wars progressed. Now she is the main character in the seventh and final season of Clone Wars, which is currently still running.

The Mandalorian is set five years after the 1983 film Return of the Jedi and follows a bounty hunter who is protecting a highly coveted “child” famously known as Baby Yoda to fans.

Details about Ahsoka’s role in The Mandalorian remain on the down low, but it is presumed that she will play an important role in helping the Mandalorian, as well as viewers, better understand the Force-sensitive Baby Yoda. She may even be the key to learning about Baby Yoda’s backstory.

Dawson currently stars on the first season of USA’s Briarpatch and is also set to star in the HBO Max/DC Comics pilot show DMZ.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian is scheduled to be released on Disney+ in October this year.
