The internet sensation known as creamy coffee or “Dalgona coffee” has taken the world by storm, but not everyone likes the taste. As a result, people began making their own versions of Dalgona coffee by using the same technique and making creamy strawberry milk or chocolate milk.
For those that have not yet jumped on the bandwagon, Dalgona coffee only requires three ingredients and a milk of choice. After some intense whisking (whether by hand or with an electric hand whisk), the finished product results in a rich and fluffy cloud of coffee goodness that is topped with milk and mixed to make a delicious iced coffee in the end.

Since it’s so easy to make, people began experimenting and the results have been colorful and yummy. One delicious variation is making the creamy drink with matcha powder instead of coffee. Others have replaced the coffee with vanilla, honey and cinnamon to infuse more flavors. Others even added tapioca pearls at the bottom for an at-home creamy boba tea.
But for the non-caffeinated drinkers and kids, using different flavored milk powders like Nesquik or Hershey’s results in a sweet and brightly colored drink.
The trick with the original Dalgona coffee is using equal parts instant coffee, sugar, and water to help control the flavor and make sure it’s not too bitter, but there is a little more wiggle room with the milk recipes. If using powdered milk, it is recommended to mix it with heavy cream to get the desired texture.
Just make sure to adjust the recipe to your liking and you’ll be on your way to making delicious creamy coffees or milks at home.
