Holland wants to prioritize his mental health for a while.
Anyone who has spent more than five minutes on just about any social media platform knows how absolutely draining it can be. This goes double, perhaps triple for celebrities and actors, who are regularly exposed to spicy takes about themselves, both professionally and personally. This is why many celebrities have opted to step away from social profiles, the latest of whom is beloved actor Tom Holland.
Holland, best known for his role as Peter Parker in the MCU Spider-Man films, announced on Instagram over the weekend that he had deleted the Twitter and Instagram apps from his phone in an effort to take a break from social media. Holland explained that, after being exposed to numerous posts about him and his career on these platforms, he had experienced spiraling emotional states. As such, he has opted to take a break in the interest of his mental health.
“I have taken a break from social media for my mental health because I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming,” Holland said in his video. “I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online and ultimately it’s very detrimental to my mental state. So, I decided to take a step back and delete the app.”

“There is an awful stigma against mental health and I know that asking for help and seeking help isn’t something we should be ashamed of,” he added.
Before ending the video, Holland thanked his fans for their love and support, and promised to return to speak with them eventually.
