Can you save the world in just five minutes?

Netflix is releasing a new sci-fi thriller starring Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and The Deuce star Dominique Fishback. Titled Project Power, the story follows Art, the father of a missing girl (Foxx), a New Orleans cop (Gordon-Levitt), and a local dealer (Fishback). The three are brought together by the “next evolution of the human species,” a new type of drug that gives the consumer superpowers for five minutes. Art is on a quest to rescue his daughter from the sinister dealers behind the drug, with Gordon-Levitt and Fishback along for the ride.

The Netflix film is a combination of crime thriller, action movie, and comic book-style fantasy. Although the movie has been in development for years, it will finally be released next month on August 14.

Leading up to the release, Netflix has unveiled a trailer for the sci-fi action thriller, and the crazy first look suggests that the film is not going to be like everyone’s favorite Marvel superhero movie.

Project Power is directed by duo Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost (some of their notable works include Nerve, Paranormal Activity 3, and Paranormal Activity 4). The Netflix film was produced by Eric Newman and Bryan Unkeless and written by Mattson Tomlin.
